Linda Funk of The Soyfoods Council Receives Award
Ankeny, Iowa—If you’ve been enjoying more edamame, tofu or soymilk lately, you may have Linda Funk to thank for it. As Executive Director of The Soyfoods Council, she has successfully been promoting the flavor, nutrition benefits and healthful aspects of soyfoods. She recently was honored for her work, with the award For Outstanding Contributions in Promoting Awareness of the Nutritional and Health Attributes of Soyfoods. At the 9th International Symposium on the Role of Soy in Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention and Treatment, Ms. Funk was recognized with the award. The symposium was held October 16-19 in Washington, D.C. at the Capital Hilton.
Linda Funk developed The Soyfoods Council in 2000. Its mission is to serve as a catalyst, leader and facilitator to mainstream soy-based foods in the global marketplace. To further the Council’s mission, Ms. Funk works with soybean growers, food producers, food distributors, chefs, retailers, the media, and consumers. Some of the most recent initiatives of The Soyfoods Council include a foodservice media tour, working with The World Food Prize to develop a soyfoods lunch for more than 1000 people as well as receiving funding for the Chrysalis Foundation nutrition and soy education program. The Soyfoods Council is a non-profit organization, created and funded by Iowa Soybean farmers, providing a complete resource to educate and inform healthcare professionals, consumers and the foodservice market about the many benefits of soyfoods.
