I love this time of year.
I love the colors. I love wearing sweaters and I love being challenged to think thankfully. So often the daily bump and grind wears me down. It is refreshing to hear stories of thankfulness and be thankful for what I do have… even in the middle of my Christmas wishlist.
This year my family – my husband and our five children – are having our very first Thanksgiving as just our family. I have to admit it has been so much fun to talk about what traditions we want to establish and divide up the tasks between the kids. We are coloring papers and creating our own placemats. We are talking about our favorite foods (tofu pumpkin pie is a request as well as stuffed shells) and the turkey. My very first turkey. And that reminds me, if you don’t know Linda Funk of The Soyfoods Council, you should! I am soooooooooo thankful for Linda. She has taken me under her wing and even did a practice run with me and the turkey. She is such a great woman. Passionate, accomplished and motherly.
I am sure that the day won’t be as grand as I think it should be. That’s life as a Type A mom… it is never quite how I plan. But it is usually better than I ever dreamed. And for that, I am thankful!
